About the artist

Being raised in rural Missouri on a 80 acre farm outside Rocheport, Vicki grew up spending her time with the animals she loved surrounded by nature. She enjoys creating art that reflects the souls of the animals she loves and the spirit of the country life where she is most at home. Vicki has specialized in western and equine art for the most part, but she also enjoys working with a variety of other subjects as well. “I have a passion for horses and am drawn to the western way of life. However, if I see something unique and interesting I am often compelled to draw it even if it's not a typical subject for me."

She finds most of the world to be extremely intriguing often hiding fascinating and mysterious parts of itself in plain sight to be overlooked by the mere passerby. These things frequently catch her eye and beg to be recreated in a piece of art.

Working in a variety of mediums, it is graphite that she has focused on over the past several years. “I feel as though I can merge with the piece when I am working with pencil." Although she will always work in graphite, Vicki is beginning to work more with color through use of watercolor and oils.

Vicki has gathered references and researched subjects not only in Missouri where she lives, but all over the United States. From the drover working in the Fort Worth Stockyards, to the door hinge found hiding along a deserted wharf in Savannah, GA, she is constantly looking for what inspires her. Then back in her studio, she works to depict each story in accuracy and in great detail.
